Summer Rules and Policies
WANIC Summer 2026 Rules and Policies
These Rules & Regulations apply to all students enrolled in a WANIC Summer Semester class. These were agreed upon by submitting a WANIC Summer Semester application:
Program Structure
- The course equals one full high school semester (0.5 credit).
- Runs 13 full days, weekdays 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Mon June 29 – Fri July 17 (no school July 3). Dates subject to change.
- All classes are 100% in-person, no remote options.
Eligibility
- Students must be entering grades 9–12 in Fall 2026.
- Must be registered with a public high school in one of these districts:
Bellevue, Issaquah, Lake Washington, Mercer Island, Northshore, Riverview, Snoqualmie Valley. - Private- or home‑schooled students must register with their local public high school first.
- Out-of-consortium students are not eligible.
Application, Acceptance & Enrollment
- Submitting the application does NOT guarantee placement.
- WANIC will send an email if the student is Accepted or Waitlisted in their first or second choice program.
- Guardians may check status anytime on the WANIC application portal https://applywanic.schoolmint.com.
- Being Accepted does not finalize enrollment:
- Guardians must register the student into LWSD following instructions emailed by WANIC.
- Missing the deadline removes the student from the class and puts them on a waitlist. Waitlisted applications cannot be guaranteed placement.
- Students already registered in LWSD are exempt from this additional registration step.
- Enrollment is conditional on verification and approval from the student’s home high school. If verification/approval fails or counselors deem placement inappropriate, WANIC will withdraw the application.
- If no concerns arise by June 11, enrollment is considered fully approved.
Attendance Requirements (Strict)
- Full attendance every day is required due to accelerated pacing.
- Students must be in class by 8:00 a.m. and remain until 3:00 p.m. daily.
- First and last day attendance is mandatory.
Missing any portion of the first day results in automatic withdrawal—no exceptions. - Students may not be absent for more than one day for any reason, including but not limited to: vacation, work, other school activities, sports, competitive events, internships, personal time off, holidays, lengthy appointments, family events, medical or mental health needs.
- If illness prevents attendance for more than 24 hours (more than one day absent), a hardship withdrawal (W) may be necessary.
- A guardian must call/email the WANIC office to excuse an absence.
- No remote access is available for absences.
- Attendance is taken twice daily (morning and afternoon). Students are required to be in attendance and actively engaged in schoolwork during both sessions each day.
- Students must be picked up within 15 minutes of class ending. There is no after school supervision.
- If student has other plans during WANIC Summer Semester, do not apply for this class.
Withdrawals & Transcript Impact
- This course will be listed on the student’s official high school transcript with credit and grade earned (state law).
- If a student withdraws:
- Before Day 1: No transcript record.
- Before end of Day 4: Withdrawal “W” (no GPA impact).
- After Day 4: May receive No Pass “N” (no credit earned).
- Hardship withdrawals (“W”) may be granted for approved reasons and do not affect GPA.
- If known and when possible, the guardian must notify WANIC prior to June 1 if their student needs to withdraw, to allow enough time to process waitlisted students.

- No Incomplete "I” grade issued.
- Students must complete all coursework and requirements to earn credit.
