Full Year Student and Family Agreement
These Rules & Regulations apply to all students enrolled in a WANIC programs and were agreed upon by submitting a WANIC Application
- I have carefully read the description of the requested program on the WANIC website and/or student has discussed the program with the high school Counselor or Career Specialist.
- I understand the availability, class times, and location are subject to change.
- I understand student will be taking this program in a separate high school/district. Student is expected to follow the calendar, schedule, and attendance policies of the school/district offering the WANIC program, even if different than at student’s own school/district.
- I will remain aware of the scheduling differences between the student’s school district and the WANIC program's school district. This will include differences in early release days, block schedules, breaks, and teacher workdays.
- Student agrees to attend class on time, every school day. Consistent attendance is a leading predictor of success in any school program. It requires commitment to travel to a different location for part of the school day. Student agrees to maintain this commitment throughout the school year.
- I understand that WANIC follows an attendance policy similar to business and industry. Students are considered to be employees or professionals and are expected to arrive each day prepared, on time, and ready to participate actively, to ensure maximum learning and productivity. WANIC programs integrate theoretical and practical competencies which can be attained only by being in full daily attendance. I pledge that student will make attendance and promptness a priority.
- I understand this is a multiple period class. Missing one day of this WANIC program is the same as missing three days of a regular one-period class.
- I understand student will follow the attendance guidelines of the school/district offering the WANIC program. Parent/guardian will excuse any absences within 48 hours by contacting the school where the WANIC program is located. It is student’s responsibility to follow up with the teacher for any missed work due to absences.
- I confirm student has reliable transportation to and from class each day. Student is responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from class each day.
- I am aware of the distance and driving time between student’s high school/home and the WANIC program, and student has ample time to get to and from both locations safely. It is student’s responsibility to find out what the parking policies are at the program location and student will be responsible for any parking fees, if applicable.
- I am aware of any lab or testing fees (if applicable) for this WANIC program. If student’s family qualifies for free/reduced lunch at high school (or family is experiencing financial hardship), student may qualify for financial assistance to help pay for approved costs associated with the WANIC program. Student or parent/guardian will contact the WANIC office for more information.
- I understand student will be responsible for the cost of replacing materials or property which are lost or damaged due to negligence. Student and parents/guardians will be notified regarding the nature of the violation or damage, how restitution may be made, and how an appeal may be instituted.
- I understand that a WANIC program is not a Running Start program. If student will be taking any Running Start classes, it is student’s responsibility to ensure the Running Start classes do not conflict with the WANIC schedule throughout the entire school year. Student will be expected to attend their WANIC classes even if the Running Start calendar differs from the WANIC calendar.
- I understand that the grade/credit the student earns each semester will be reflected on student’s permanent high school record.
- I understand if student is earning a “D”, “F”, or “N” (No Pass) toward the end of Semester 1, this indicates they are not attaining standards and skills with adequate proficiency. WANIC will review student’s academic performance, attendance records, and other contributing factors. To avoid further negative effect on student’s grade/GPA, WANIC and the student's home high school team may determine it is in student’s best interest to withdraw from the WANIC program and return to their home high school for the remainder of the school year.
- I understand that if student withdraws before the first day of class, the course will not be reflected on the official high school transcript. If student attends the class and withdraws during the first 10 school days of the semester, the class will be included on the transcript with a mark/grade of “W” (Withdraw). “W” does not impact the student’s GPA. If student withdraws after the first 10 school days, the mark/grade of “F” or “N” (No Pass) is used. WANIC Director may consider special circumstances for issuing a “W” mark/grade after the 10-school-day window has passed.
